I painted this scene open air on location, "Pleinair", looking from Humarock at Scituate Harbor toward the Marshfield Hills in Massachusetts. It was a cold pre-spring, windy day. This is the second painting I did while in Massachusetts. I was so excited to have the clouds cast countless variations of shadows that day, the lighting in the painting was a figment of memory in the mind because it would change in an instant while I painted. Being the historic minded romantic I am, I could not help to think how this view looked without any civilization, so I decided to paint from the wits. Any and all comments are welcome.
